In this travel we invite you to discover one of the most cherished Portuguese landscapes. Sistelo is a tiny village hidden among the mountains of north Portugal and labelled the “Portuguese Tibet” for its distinctive terraced grain fields.

Day 1:

Arcos de Valdevez → Sistelo

Departure from Arcos de Valdevez:

Distance: 22 km through the Vez River Valley.

Arrival in Sistelo:

Exploration of the main village recognized as a cultural landscape and national monument.Characterized by terraced fields carved into the hillsides.Visit ends at the Landscape Interpretation Center. Visits to Lookout Points like Estrica Lookout Point and Alto de Paçô. Observation from a different perspective.

Picnic in Sistelo featuring local products. Return to Arcos de Valdevez and stroll along the riverbanks. Visit the historic center of the village.

Overnight stay at 12th-century monastery restored by award-winning architect Eduardo Souto de Moura.

 

Day 2: Gastronomic and Cultural ExperienceMorning:

Visit to the Shiitake Mushroom Farm:

Welcome from the producer.Guided tour of the farm. Hands-on workshop on mushroom inoculation.Mushroom harvesting experience.

Lunch: Sautéed Shiitake mushrooms with vegetables. Seasonal regional products.Beverages included.

Return in the afternoon.
