Inês and Miguel are a couple rooted in the heart of Serra da Estrela. They welcome travelers into their guesthouse and into the experiences shaped by their bond with the land, the people, and the quiet wisdom of this place.
Through their work, they aim to honor and give visibility to the natural and human heritage of Serra da Estrela.
When you book your experience with Inland, you can choose one of three immersive experiences designed to connect you with the spirit of the mountain.
1 — A Day With a Shepherd
3 to 4 hours – 60€ per person
Join a local shepherd and step into the timeless rhythm of pastoral life. Listen to his stories, walk beside the flock, feel the landscape through the eyes of those who live it every day, and share a simple meal with him in the open air.
All earnings from this experience are shared with the shepherd — a way to give back to the community that keeps this mountain alive.
Please note: depending on weather conditions, the shepherd’s schedule and activity, or group ability, the program may change or be cancelled. We will always contact participants to propose an alternative.
2 — Serra da Estrela Cheese Tasting
2 to 3 hours – 55€ per person
Taste a curated selection of sheep and goat cheeses — including the iconic Serra da Estrela — paired with wine, fruit, and homemade delicacies that highlight their flavors.
Along the way, you’ll hear the stories, legends, and traditions that make this cheese one of Portugal’s most treasured products.
The tasting may take place in one of the guesthouses (indoors or in the patio) or, if fully booked, in a beautiful natural setting in the region.
3 — Painting With Natural Pigments
2 to 3 hours – 50 € per person
Walk through the forest of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park in search of colours hidden in the landscape. Collect pigments, create your own natural paints, and explore your creativity in an open, playful way — no painting experience needed. In the end there is a small snack of local products.
The activity is held in the guesthouse or outdoors, depending on availability and weather. Inês and Miguel speak Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.
