Inland Portugal is committed to sustainability starting from its very concept: small group travels (seven people) with the aim of exploring inland Portugal, nature, local culture, and social projects.

The Trips are conducted in a van that uses liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as it would be impossible to charge an electric car in many areas of the interior territory.

LPG is a clean fuel, with lower carbon emissions and better combustion than gasoline or diesel. Therefore, it is a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution. The CO2 emissions from an LPG car are approximately 80% lower than those emitted by a gasoline car and 90% lower than the emissions from a diesel car. For this reason, the primary advantage of using LPG is environmental care and the fact that it is a less polluting fuel, being more refined, containing fewer impurities, and consequently emitting fewer polluting gases.

On our trips, when necessary, we opt for partners with energy efficiency policies and sensitivity to sustainability issues, as well as in the selection of local partners. We prioritize and encourage clients to purchase genuine local products.

  • We develop activities with clients in which the local community also participates, ensuring greater authenticity and stimulating a sense of sharing.
  • We raise awareness among clients about appropriate behaviors towards local populations and their ways of life.
  • We promote synergies so that clients can experience the production processes of identity products, such as local crafts or industries.
  • We incorporate local services and products into our programs, such as local guides and small gastronomic offerings.
  • We provide clients with information about natural and cultural heritage and conduct for the preservation of the places where the activity will take place.
  • We share with clients local traditions and the respect due to intangible heritage.
  • We develop efficient, fair, and honest collaboration partnerships with local communities, contributing economically and socially to their development.
  • We do not leave trash or waste outside appropriate locations, nor do we provide food to wild animals.
  • We contribute to the continuity and preservation of ancestral cultural practices, incorporating them into our visiting programs, valuing them, and generating self-esteem for those who advocate for them in their respective communities.

The company responsible for the Inland Portugal brand has implemented a long-term sustainability management system that is appropriate to its size and addresses environmental, social, cultural, economic, quality, human rights, health, safety, risk, and crisis management issues, promoting continuous improvement according to the guidelines of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. We are also signatories of the guidelines Future of Tourism
