About Inland Portugal

Some journeys are about destinations, but the most meaningful ones are about connection—between people, places, and traditions.

I’m Alexandra Melo, a former journalist and entrepreneur with a deep passion for Portugal’s heritage. For over 16 years, I have researched and collaborated with artisans still working in Inland Portugal, giving them visibility and helping bring their craftsmanship to the world. Through my work, I have supported rural communities by preserving traditional skills and creating new opportunities for local artisans.

At Inland Portugal, we believe that travel should be a force for regeneration, cultural preservation, and community support. Tourism isn’t just an industry to us—it’s an opportunity to revitalize rural areas, celebrate heritage, and foster meaningful exchanges.

We focus on creating responsible travel experiences that:

  • Support rural communities by promoting local craftsmanship, businesses, and social projects.
  • Preserve Portugal’s cultural and natural heritage, ensuring traditions and ecosystems thrive.
  • Educate travelers about sustainability and responsible tourism practices.

Through partnerships with artisans, small producers, and community initiatives, we design immersive journeys that go beyond sightseeing—they inspire, engage, and leave a positive impact on both visitors and local people.

For us, travel isn’t about collecting places—it’s about experiences that matter. Let’s explore Portugal in a way that respects its past, enriches its present, and secures its future.

Join us in making every journey meaningful.
